Dr Walid Magdy is an Associate Professor and a faculty member at the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation (ILCC), part of the School of Informatics, at the University of Edinburgh. He is also a faculty fellow at The Alan Turing Institute.

Dr Magdy’s expertise is in social computing, information retrieval (IR), and data mining. He holds a PhD degree from the School of Computing, Dublin City University (DCU). He also has an extended industrial background from working for tech enterprises such as Microsoft and IBM.
